Woot! Three months in a row! I think it’s fair to say I’ve gotten my groove back with the ninebullets podcast.

This month’s show features the Ninebullets Radio/Ninebullets Podcast theme song written and performed by my buddy through music, Todd Ferrell. I’d love to know what y’all think of it. I think it has a solid Nashville Pussy feel to it and love it accordingly. The show also features the brand new Lucero track called “Sometimes” as well as new music from The Porter Draw, Greenland Is Melting and Dear Sister. The end of the show pretty much turns into a rock fest. Not sure why but the night I made it I really wanted to rock out and finally gave into the need as the night wore on and the liquor took hold.

So, let’s get to it. As always, if you like what you’re hearing on these podcasts, tell your friends about it. Post about it on your Facebook wall. Tweet about it. These bands are all pretty small so every new ear their music finds counts, and you can directly assist them in that effort by telling people about this podcast and others like it.

Let’s get a little bit of unity back in our Community.

Track Listing:

Originally, the podcast and Ninebullets Radio were supposed to (mostly) feature different songs. Then, I was asked to do an extra hour on the show at the last minute and the two ended up being extremely similar track listings. Sorry about that but look at it like this; in a week the archive of the radio show will be gone forever but the podcast is available (for better or worse) forever.

The Episode 24 podcast will ring out 2011 here on ninebullets. In preparation for this show I literally (yes, I am properly using the word) collected 50+ songs I wanted to play and set out to make a podcast. I say that so you know that this isn’t a “best songs of the year” show, so much as a “some of my favorite songs of the year” show. Some made this podcast but most didn’t…not because they were inferior songs, mind you, they just didn’t fit the flow of the show.

Believe it or not, I do try to maintain even flows throughout these things and avoid too many whiplash tempo changes. Had I made the podcast the day before or the day after I did, it probably would have turned out very, very differently. But I didn’t, and these are the songs that I chose and I’m done apologizing/explaining.

So, here are some of my favorite tracks of 2011 in podcast form. Everyone be safe over the long weekend, nurse your hangovers with the hair of the dog and college bowl games, and we’ll see you come 2012 (the final year of our planet?). . As always, below you’ll find the track listing for the show. Please tell your friends and Facebook/Twitter followers about it, I’ll greatly appreciate it.

Track Listing:

01. Frank Turner - I Still Believe (from England Keep My Bones)
02. The Decemberists - Down By The Water (from The King Is Dead)
03. Old Man Markley - Letterman (from Guts ‘N Teeth)
04. The Porter Draw - Davey (from California Widow)
05. Chuck Ragan - Nomad By Fate (from Covering Ground)
06. Matt Woods - Beating Down My Door (from The Matt Woods Manifesto)
07. Have Gun Will Travel - To The Victor Go The Spoils (from Mergers & Acquisitions)
08. Lauderdale - Moving On (from Moving On)
09. Kaleigh Baker - The Weight Of It all (from The Weight Of It All)
10. JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound - Want More (from Want More)
11. Glossary - A Shoulder To Cry On (from Long Live All Of Us)
12. The Builders & The Butchers - All Away (from Dead Reckoning)
13. Deep Dark Woods - The Places I’ve Left Behind (from The Place I Left Behind)
14. Chuck Allen Floyd - Hard Times (from Schedule A)
15. American Andyne - Bastard Sons Of The New Depression (from So, You Want To Be A Bullfighter)
16. Grayson Capps - Highway 42 (from The Lost Cause Minstrels)

How y’all doing? It’s been a little while since we did one of these. I wish I had a real excuse but, to be honest, I don’t. I felt the pressure of doing a weekly radio show and as a result, the podcast got pushed to the background. Well, that’s not the case any longer and with that said, let’s focus on this show and not the missed shows of the past few months.

Once again out good friend from the Northwest, Lollyrae, sent us some beers and I went to drinking them during the podcast. You may remember that we did this once before and I was a little mixed on the results. While I did not get slurring drunk during this show I think I did a much better job describing the beers and making the trying of the beers a part of the show. I hope y’all think so too.

Speaking of the show. We’ve lots of good new stuff as well as some tunes you’re probably already quite familiar with. The show opens with a cover of Tom Petty’s “Refugee” by The Gaslight Anthem that I think rivals the original. Some of the other standout tracks include; Merle Haggard proving he still has it, Hellbound Glory showing there’s more to them than drug songs, Have Gun Will Travel showing there will be no sophomore slump with Mergers & Acquisitions, Shooter Jennings sending the pop country boys a message and Scott Hiram Biram doing what he does so well.

All that’s left is to press play on the music. So get to it and as always, if you like what you’re hearing on these podcasts, tell your friends about it. Post about it on your Facebook wall. Tweet about it. These bands are all pretty small so every new ear their music find counts, and you can directly assist them in that effort by telling people about this podcast and others like it.

Track Listing:
01. The Gaslight Anthem - Refugee (from the iTunes Sessions)
02. Autopsy IV Commentary
03. Merle Haggard - working Man’s Blues (from Working In Tennessee)
04. Chris Knight - Enough Rope (from Enough Rope)
05. Doop and The Inside Outlaws - What Am I Supposed To Do (from What Am I Supposed To Do)
06. Autopsy IV Commentary
07. Sassparilla - Same Old Blues (from The Darndest Thing)
08. Gill Landry - Careless Love (from Piety & Desire)
09. James Leg - Drowning In Fire (from Solitary Pleasures)
10. Autopsy IV Commentary
11. Hellbound Glory - Bastard Child (from Damaged Goods)
12. Arliss Nancy - Wrong or Right (from Dance To Forget)
13. Have Gun Will Travel - To The Victor Goes The Spoils (from Mergers & Acquisitions)
14. Autopsy IV Commentary
15. The Decemberists - E. Watson (from Long Live The King)
16. The Black Keys - Lonely Boy (from the cd-single Lonely Boy)
17. Autopsy IV Commentary
18. Shooter Jennings - Outlaw You (from iTunes)
19. Chuck Ragan - Nomad By Fate (from Covering Ground)
20. Autopsy IV Commentary
21. American Anodyne - Bastard Sons Of The New Depression (from So, You Wanna Be A Bullfighter)

It’s time for a new ninebullets podcast. Immediately you might notice that I’ve stopped naming these by the month they were released and going with the more common numbering of the episodes. I am doing this cause I’ve not been so swell at getting these out monthly so I thought going to the numbering system would work better. This will also enable me to do more than one in a month should the opportunity to do that arise.

With that said, let’s talk about the new show. Following in the footsteps of the radio show 2 weeks ago I decided to do a “some of the best of the first ½ of 2011” show that would feature some of the songs that I didn’t get to on Ninebullets Radio. The show features a track from Shane Sweeny’s upcoming solo album, The Finding Time as well as tracks from two heavily anticipated albums from the likes of Gillian Welch and William Elliott Whitmore. The show is rounded out with awesome songs from 9B faves such as Austin Lucas, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Grayson Capps, Frank Turner, Jason Isbell as well as new found fave Damion Suomi.

As always, if you like what you’re hearing on these podcasts, tell your friends about it. Post about it on your Facebook wall. Tweet about it. These bands are all pretty small so every new ear their music find counts, and you can directly assist them in that effort by telling people about this podcast and others like it. Now….on to the tunes:

Track Listing:

01. Jami Lynn - SweetThing
02. Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside - Poison Milk
03. Autopsy IV Commentary
04. Damion Suomi - Ghost
05. Gillian Welch - That’s The Way It Goes
06. Jason Isbell - Codeine
07. Autopsy IV Commentary
08. Slim Cessna’s Auto Club - Three Bloodhounds Two Shepherds One Fila Brasileiro
09. William Elliott Whitmore - Bury Your Burdens In The Ground
10. Chet O’Keefe - Game Bird
11. Grayson Capps - Rock N Roll
12. Autopsy IV Commentary
13. Shane Sweeny - When I Am Empty
14. Austin Lucas - Sleep Well
15. Autopsy IV Commentary
16. Frank Turner - I Still Believe

Damnit. This podcast was supposed to be posted the last weekend of April but when I made the podcast apparently my microphone was messing up, so I had to go back and rerecord all the parts where I was talking. As a result, it’s a little late but the music in this episode makes it worth the wait.

This month’s podcast opens with what is, in my opinion, song of the year so far, “Highway 42” by Grayson Capps, and just keeps crushing from there on out. It features Matt Woods, The Only Sons, Have Gun Will Travel and Two Cow Garage, all of whom are playing my birthday party tonight. It also features brand new music from plenty of bands you know, as well as a few you might not.

I’ll leave y’all to the music after a quick request. If you like what you’re hearing on these podcasts, tell you friends about it. Post about it on your Facebook wall. Tweet about it. These bands are all pretty small so every new ear their music find counts, and you can directly assist them in that effort by telling people about this podcast and others like it. So, your challenge for the month of May, should you accept it, is to tell 5 people you think would appreciate this music about a podcast or website. I’d love if it was the 9B Podcast or ninebullets.net, but it doesn’t have to be.

Hey everyone. I shove off for SxSW in a few hours and figured I’d post a new podcast before I shuttered the site for the week. Well. Kind of shuttered. I’m sure there will be scattered updates from Austin but they’ll be sporadic and of questionable lucidity. If you’re interested you can follow me on Twitter and/or Facebook where I am sure there will be no shortage of updates, hijinks and pictures for use as evidence. But enough about me and my travels…let’s talk about the podcast.

The first half of the show serves as a SxSW preview of sorts but it’s worth is since the preview has brand new tracks from Ha Ha Tonka, Jason Isbell and the incomparable Slim Cessna’s Auto Club. As the show moves along I drift away from the SxSW motif with new songs from James Leg, Michael Dean Damron and The Red Hills.

All in all, I think I’ve done a pretty good job putting together an hour of quality listening for all the CxCW kids out there. As always, if you enjoy the show please share it with your Facebook and Twitter buddies. If you really enjoy the show, let me know…it’s always nice to get some feedback.

(AIV Note: This was supposed to be posted yesterday but my dumb ass forgot to upload the podcast to the server. Der, I iz full of forgets….anyhow, enjoy.)

Well, it might be a new year and I might have a radio show now but nothing really changes when it comes to the podcast. It starts nice enough and you might even be able to hear some improvement gleaned from doing a weekly radio show but it quickly devolves into a ½ drunk foul mouthed typical podcast. Don’t let that deter you though. While my speech and self-censoring abilities may erode over the hour the music fucking slays and that’s what you’re here for, right?

This month show is plumb full of new music. We got new songs from The Only Sons, Kasey Anderson, Social D, The Decemberists, Frank Turner and Two Cow Garage. We also bookended this show with Michael Claytor. We open the show with a track from his solo album, We Have An Elephant and we close the show with an absolutely beautiful song from Austin Lucas which features Michael playing some fine banjo and harmonies. And, if all of that wasn’t pushing your awesome meter to it’s threshold of pain, we even managed to mix in a track from Danzig’s new album and it fits. PLAM! Top that It Burns When I Pee….the gauntlet has been laid down.

Well folks, that’s it. Another month in the can and I hope y’all like it. If you do, could you please, please, please post something about it on twitter, facebook and whatever cutting edge social network I am oblivious to? Every mention of this will expose these artists to someone who’s never heard of them and that’s what we’re looking for.

Track Listing:

Here we are at the end of another year. All things considered, it was a pretty good one. On a personal level, I came into 2010 facing some pretty freaky & scary health issues and I’m leaving more or less in tact and healthy. Both my Seminoles and my Buccaneers had positive seasons while it looks like my Lightning are gonna be in the playoff conversation all season. Musically, it was a pretty solid year too and that’s what we’re really here to talk about now ain’t it.

In preparation for this show I literally (yes, I am properly using the word) collected 70+ songs I wanted to play and set to making a podcast. I say that so you know that this isn’t a “best songs of the year” show so much as a “some of my favorite songs of the year” show. That said, there are some seriously good songs assembled in this show.

And, 2011 is already shaping up to be pretty fucking phenomenal. Hopefully, this won’t be the final ninebullets.netpodcast but there’s more about that in the show for now, let’s just listen to the music:

TRACK LISTING:

Honestly, I’d planned to do an October podcast but the month just kind of got away from me. Not that any of that shit matters now. It’s November, turkey day is around the corner and the podcast is back so let’s talk about it….

The November show features a really drunk me (can you tell where I turned off the drunk recording of this show and came back sober?) and new music from 9B staples Kasey Anderson, Whitey Morgan & The 78’s, The Steeldrivers, Joseph Huber (.357 String Band), John Mellencamp and Drag The River. It also features some music from some new found 9B faves like The Cur Dogs, Truckstop Darlin’ and Doc Dailey.

All in all, I think this is a great collection of music for your Thanksgiving travels. Listen, love, order a Jack and Coke from your stewardess and let’s do this! Also, really, you have no idea how far a comment, an email or any sort of acknowledgment that people are actually listening/enjoying these things goes….so please, if you like the 9B podcast, let me know but only after you’ve tweeted and posted on Facebook about it.

Enjoy and I’ll holler at y’all in December (i promise, I’ve already pulled out Robert Earle Keene’s, “Merry Christmas From The Family“).

A podcast on a Tuesday. Kind of outta the norm for when I like to post these, but I am trying to see if I can get the traffic level on them increased. Some months kill, while others barely get any listens at all, and one way or the other I’d like to achieve some form of consistency. But that’s enough of my whining. Let’s talk about this month’s show.

First thing you might notice is that this show was actually assembled in two different pieces with two dramatically different levels of sobriety between them. See if you can find the breaking point. Other than that, the first 1/2 of this show is a preview/celebration of my pending trip to Denver for the Suburban Home Records 15th Anniversary Party shows. If you’re gonna be joining me there, then I think you’ll love the part of the show. If you were trying to make it but for whatever reasons just couldn’t make it, consider this some loving salt for your wound. After the Denver segments we barrel into some utterly awesome new music from some bands you may or may not have ever heard of, such as American Graveyard, Left Foot Sally and Gill Landry. I also managed to drop an oldie but goodie from Matthew Dean Herman in there, but I think when you hear it you’ll agree with me that it just. fucking. fit.

We end this month’s podcast from a side project of Devon’s from The Takers. The name of the band is/was Thunderband and they had a standing in Gainesville before Michael moved away. I’ll probably play some more tracks from their demo cd in the coming months.

Well folks, that’s it. Another month in the can and I hope y’all like it. If you do, could you please, please, please post something about it on twitter, facebook and whatever cutting edge social network I am oblivious to?

Thanks.

I’ll tell y’all what, when you do a monthly podcast you really begin to appreciate how short a month is. It’s like you just finished the last podcast when you realize you only have 5 days left before the next one is due. This is also the first podcast I ever made without the use of any beer or whiskey. Outside of there being no slurring by the end of it, I don’t really notice much of a difference. Lemme know if you do.

This month’s show features a pretty good balance between ninebullets regulars such as Biram, The Truckers, Austin Lucas and Mat D and relative newcomers you may not have heard of if you don’t read ninebullets such as Back Row Baptists, Reverend Deadeye and The Maldives. In between all of those we dropped some artists that have yet to be featured at all in 9b (though they will in the coming month’s) like Root Jack, The Sadies and Tin Horn Prayer. All in all, I think the whole set turned out really fantastic and I bet an hour from now you’ll agree with me.

If you enjoy this month’s please tell your Facebook and Twitter followers about it, I’ll greatly appreciate it.

Told y’all I’d get back on the grind. I’d like to say that I’m sorry for missing last month and the truth is….I am….mostly. At the same time, the month off was nice. Unless you’re doing a monthly podcast, I don’t think you can appreciate just how fast each month passes. How people do weekly podcasts is quite simply beyond me. That said, enough about my whining. Let’s talk about this month’s podcast….

Most months I make a pretty concentrated effort to play new music, so I decided to just let the songs dictate what would get played this month. The end result was probably the most fun I’ve had assembling a podcast in a while. With that said, it seems that as the podcast wears on the undertone of the songs gets darker and darker. I’m not sure why that happened. My only guess is that the thunderstorms right outside my window while I was listening to and selecting the music played an influential role in what you’re gonna hear this month.

I decided to pay a slight homage to the show Justified. Now, I know I haven’t talked about Justified here on ninebullets, but if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you know I was watching it. The show started off slowly and Raylan was a little bit too much of a cocksure Superman, but as the season wore on I thought the writers did a pretty good job of showing that this cocksure Superman complex was as much Raylan’s Achilles Heel as it was his mojo, and I’m already looking forward to next season. From there we just rambled through a collection of songs both old and new with no real direction until “Bloodshot Eyes” by Possum Jenkins. From there it’s a steady trip down into a darker and darker mood. I wanna say that I didn’t choose Tim Barry’s song “222″ lightly. There are certain song’s like “Darby’s Song” by Lucero that should be treated with a proper amount of respect, and “222″ falls into that class of song. Normally, “the proper amount of respect” would include NOT putting it on a podcast and I tried to avoid putting it on here, but no matter what track I tried to put in its place nothing fit the tone as well, so in the end I decided that “the proper amount of respect” sometimes means it’s played when it needs to be played….even if it’s on my stupid little podcast. I hope one or two of you agree.

Anyhow, I’ll drink whiskey and record another one of these next month. If you enjoyed this month’s please tell your Facebook and Twitter followers about it, I’ll greatly appreciate it.

Well. I’ll be a motherfucker. I never expected to still be doing these 12 months after the first one but here we are. Furthermore, I feel as though they are an integral part of the site now days. For some reason, I don’t really care to much about the stats for the podcast but today I took a peek at them and according to the stats there are 2500 subscribers to this fucker! I don’t know if that’s a lot or a pathetic number in podcast world but I am pretty sure it’s more people than the average Rays game gets. I hope it’s 5000 by this time next year. With that said, let’s talk about this month’s podcast.

For the one year anniversary I’ve brought y’all, what I feel like, is the best podcast to date from a production standpoint….and musically it’s pretty friggin’ stellar to. I open it with a small collection of happy birthday tracks before settling into a show full of brand new material. We got brand new tracks from The Black Keys, American Aquarium, Red Clay River, I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In The House, Gaslight Anthem and The Morning Pages. Also, in celebration of our birthday, we’re bringing you the best give away the podcast has had to date but to know about that you’re gonna have to actually listen to the damn thing. Another thing that was super cool about this month’s podcast is that there were actually requests from twitter and facebook that ended up getting played. If you have something you wanna hear played follow me on Facebook or Twitter and make a request when I solicit them next month.

As always, below you’ll find the track listing for the show. Please tell your friends and Facebook/Twitter followers about it, I’ll greatly appreciate it.

Another month, another podcast. This month I started the show sort of recapping my experiences in Austin for SxSW and tried to transition away from it as the show wore on, but it turns out damned near every band on this podcast was either a band I saw in Austin or one I tried to see. I guess it’s hard to get away from when you were just there. Somewhere hidden in this show there is a really cool giveaway, but it’s gonna take some actual listening to learn what it is. Other than that, I really don’t have too much to say about this month’s show. It features some brand new music from The Black Keys, The Pack A.D., The Legendary Shackshakers and newest New West signee Ponderosa and the show closes with one of the best songs the .357 String Band has ever written.

Next month is the nineullets.net podcast’s 1 year anniversary. I might have some giveaways for that, we’ll see. Otherwise, send me some song suggestions for the show.
Whew! This month really snuck up on me. All the SxSW research and planning I was doing distracted me and I looked at my calendar one night and realized I only had 5 days before this bad boy needed to be done. It’s all good though, I don’t need much more than a night or two and a bottle of whiskey (or two) to knock these babies out. This month I really focused on getting all the ID tagging complete and accurate for those of you that download the podcast and I finally even figured out how to embed the tracklisting as lyrics. That was something that was suggested to me a few months back but I had no idea how to do it. I still have no idea how to view ‘em, so if you do please leave me a comment telling me whether I did it right or not.

This month I decided to feature bands that are playing SxSW that I am gonna be making a point to catch. I’ve been told by people who’ve been there before that I need to head out there with a well planned out spreadsheet to tell me where I wanna be and when, and then I need to be prepared to toss it aside immediately. I’m prepared to do all of that and I just bought a pair of comfortable shoes. All that’s really left to do is to say a few prayers for my liver. I totally plan on documenting the entire trip via live tweets (follow me on twitter), Facebook postings (me on facebook) and I hope to capture some good acoustic performances and interviews on the Flip camera to bring back for y’all. Other than that, I hope y’all enjoy this month’s show (last month’s was the busiest ever!) and, as always, please tell your friends and Facebook/Twitter followers about it ’cause I’d greatly appreciate it. ~ Autopsy IV (twitter/facebook/myspace)

I wasn’t too sure this podcast was even gonna happen in the middle of the month. The beginning of the month was all holidays, the middle was spent in the mountains on vacation and the end was spent prepping for, and then undergoing, some medical tests. All of this failed to allow me to do one thing, prep for the ninebullets.net January podcast. That said, I seriously think this might have turned out to be the best podcast I’ve done yet, quality wise. During the podcast I thought it was too mellow but after listening to it in the car I think I was wrong, and not only is this one of the best podcasts I’ve done quality wise, it very well may be one of the best I’ve done, period. On a final note, I tried something a little new on this podcast and mixed in music underneath me while I was talking. I’d love to hear how you guys think it turned out and if I should make it a regular thing.

Since it’s a new year I tried to focus on new or freshly released music. All of these songs were released in the past month or will be getting released in the coming month. So enjoy the hell out of it, lemme know what you think and, as always, please tell your friends and Facebook/Twitter followers about it, I’ll greatly appreciate it.

The December podcast will ring out 2009 here on ninebullets. This month there were no themes and no sponsors, just me, a bottle of sweet tea vodka and a huge list of some of my favorite songs of this year. Some made this podcast but most didn’t…not because they were inferior songs, mind you, they just didn’t fit the show.

So, here are some of my favorite tracks of 2009 in podcast form. Everyone be safe over the long weekend, nurse your hangovers with the hair of the dog and college bowl games and we’ll see you come 2010.

As always, below you’ll find the track listing for the show. Please tell your friends and Facebook/Twitter followers about it, I’ll greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to the November version of the ninebullets.net podcast. This month, since it’s Thanksgiving, I decided to do an all Florida version as an homage to the bands that play week in and week out in my home state. You know, the bands we can see so often we take them for granted. Passing up their shows for whatever the current buzz band coming through town that weekend is, with the fleeting promise that you’ll catch their show next weekend. Well this month, on ninebullets, is their show. Thanks for all the drunken nights y’all have given us this year, and I look forward to more of it in the coming year.

In keeping with the Florida theme I reached out to Cigar City Brewing to sponsor this month’s show. They agreed and gave me IPA, Mocha Cubano, Brown Ale, Imperial Stout and some others. The idea was to drink them while I did the podcast like I did last month, but once we opened the first growler I knew that wasn’t gonna happen. While I took the entire month to work through the Rogue beers, we put down all of the Cigar City beer in two days. If you live in the Tampa area you should get over to their brewery and buy you some. Trust me, I’m a professional.

There is also a ton of free stuff for you listeners wrapped inside this month’s podcast. We have free cds from Have Gun Will Travel, Greenland Is Melting and Chuck Ragan. We also have a vinyl copy of The Takers album and a beautiful 7″ picture disc from Chuck Ragan. To find out how to win this stuff you’re gonna have to actually listen to the show.

That’s it. I hope y’all enjoy listening to this show as much as I did making it. I think it turned out really well and I am proud of it, as well as the bands that are featured in it. Do me a favor though, if you listen and you enjoy the show, please tell other people about it.

Thanks, everyone. ~Autopsy IV (web / twitter / facebook)

The murder ballads came from y’all’s emails and my admittedly shit memory, while the beer came from Rogue Brewery courtesy our Portland friend Lollyrae. I hope I did okay, but I have to admit I am lacking a little confidence on this one. I think the main problem is that I wasn’t too sure how I was gonna do it before I started it, then I realized midway through that I needed to cut it off due to file size and my podcast host. That said, a couple more of these and I think I could have it down to an art…not that it matters. This bad boy is done, so let’s talk about it.

As I said, this month’s podcast features murder ballads and devil songs. I had asked for people to email me their suggestions and got enough songs that I could have done a two hour show, and that’s before I put in the songs I wanted to include. THEN, to add more time, I had all that wonderful (and some not so wonderful) beer to talk about! I’m really curious to know if y’all think it turned out very good. If I didn’t include your song, it’s probably not because I didn’t like it, I just ran out of time. Hopefully, next month we’re gonna be doing another one of these featuring Florida bands and Florida craft beers.

Y’all have a happy Halloween and check back here tomorrow for a Strawfoot giveaway. Til’ then, here is the tracklisting for this month’s show, please tell your friends and Facebook/Twitter followers about it. I’ll greatly appreciate it.

Well, here we are on our seventh podcast and I think I’ve gotten the swing of things. No longer do I feel too silly talking to myself in the middle of the night, and I think I’ve really figured out how to use Mixcraft. What does that mean for you? It means that the actual creation of them will be much easier, so a greater amount of attention can be paid to the overall mixing/leveling/mastering of them. All of this will be good. Now, let’s get on with the show.

This month’s got a good chunk of unreleased material on it. We’ve got tracks from upcoming cds by Lucero, Strawfoot and Micah Schnabel (Two Cow Garage) as well as new material from brand new cds by Drivin’ & Cryin’ and Chuck Ragan. The new Lucero album is coming out on October 6 and if you live in the Tampa/St. Pete area there will be a listening party at Vinyl Fever which features pizza courtesy of yours truly but more on that in October (editors note: this was supposed to be posted in Sept.). I dunno why but for some reason in the middle of this podcast I got a hair up my ass and decided to feature nothing but female fronted bands. Why I did it aside, there is some awesome material included on the back half of the podcast including a track from Betty-Soo, an artist I was introduced to via the excellent blog, A Truer Sound.

And that’s all I gots to say about this months podcast. It’s awesome. You should listen and post about it on your blog, facebook, myspace and livejournal site. You should play it when you have sex with your self/boy/girl/person i met an hour ago friend. And you MUST come back for the October podcast! Why? Let’s get into that….

The October podcast is gonna be the first themed podcast. See, back in August some folks and myself on Twitter came up with the idea that October should be a #beerpodcast and we started getting the word out. The idea is for folks to send me some of their regional brews and I sample them/comment on them during the podcast. I think this is a fantastic idea because…well, for one, I get free booze but also because Florida has CRAP for beer selection where as the rest of y’all get all these awesome craft brews that I want to drink. Everyone tells me that if I’d ever had ______________ then I’d think Fat Tire was shit but we don’t even get Fat Tire, much less ______________ here so how would I know? So, you have a favorite craft brew? Mail me a bottle (address on the about page) and I’ll try it and as a thank you one day I’ll mail you the bottle back full of some of my personal homebrew. It’s a win-win situation. I hope to start getting box upon box of beer on my doorstep but that’s not all…..NO! The October podcast is also gonna be musical themed…

Since October is all about Halloween then we’re gonna celebrate death with the October podcast. It’s gonna be nothing but murder ballads and devil songs. If you have a favorite murder ballad of devil song….email it to me. We’ll celebrate Halloween and irritate the devil dodgers.
